Steve Purcell is a highly acclaimed filmmaker, producer, director, editor, and photographer who has garnered numerous accolades, including a Grammy Award, a CableACE Award, and multiple Emmy Awards.
As the President of SLP Productions, Inc., Purcell has spearheaded the production and direction of award-winning projects spanning the United States, Europe, and Asia. Notable projects include Prince’s Lovesexy Tour, Paul McCartney’s A Postcard from Arizona, BB King’s The Blues Summit, One Day in Auschwitz, One Night in Jordan, and Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill Live, for which Purcell received a Grammy Award for Producing and Directing. Purcell has also contributed to documentaries and specials for prominent networks and streaming services.
Purcell has held executive positions in various entertainment and media organizations, including Paisley Park Productions, Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group, NBC Universal Media, The Walt Disney Company, and CBS. He served as Senior Vice President of Content & Distribution at PBS SoCal, the third most-watched PBS station in the United States. Additionally, Purcell held the position of Senior Vice President of Post Production for The Sim Group International, a post-production services provider for television and feature film clients, such as American Idol, Game of Thrones, and the Academy Awards. Purcell has also held the position of Professor of Television and Film at Syracuse University.
As a celebrated photographer, Purcell has embarked on a diverse global journey, visiting destinations such as Antarctica, Cuba, Africa, Auschwitz, Poland, Morocco, Jordan, Japan, Turkey, Greenland, Iceland, and beyond.
Purcell is an active member of the Directors Guild of America and The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
